During the last week of September, Healing Our Waters – Great Lakes Coalition brought together a diverse group of more than 400 people from throughout the Great Lakes region to attend the Great Lakes Restoration Conference in Chicago. I attended as Minnesota’s state lead for the coalition. At the largest annual gathering of Great Lakes supporters and activists, we learned about important Great Lakes restoration issues and projects. The globe is covered in plastic waste. The "to-go" coffee culture is a big part of this problem. Take Starbucks, for example. Starbucks uses more than 8,000 paper cups a minute, which adds up to more than four billion a year.
Minnesota Guide to Lead in Our Drinking Water and Lead Service Lines
Clean Water Action is working this year in the Minnesota State Legislature to pass a bipartisan bill to make it easier for Minnesotans to get closer to lead free in their homes. We are working to get incentives and tax credits to homeowners who want to replace their lead service line with a safer alternative.
