Daily Air Update: Five straight days of unhealthy air in Mon Valley
(Clairton) – Despite the Christmas holiday, residents in the Clairton area and Mon Valley experienced continued unhealthy air quality yesterday for the fifth straight day. Mon Valley Air Quality Reaches Unhealthy Levels Again: Clean Water Action Statement
(Clairton) – Clean Water Action issued a statement this morning alerting residents in the Clairton and surrounding area to unhealthy air quality over the weekend and continuing today. On both December 21 and 22 air monitoring data on the Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD) website indicated that the Liberty monitor in the Mon Valley recorded violations of the daily fine particle (PM2.5) standard, with levels almost 50% over the health based standard.

My Testimony to EPA about its Toxic Water Proposal
On Thursday, December 19th I participated in a "virtual" public hearing on the Trump administration's dangerous plan to let dirty power plants dump even more pollution into our rivers, putting more communities at risk. These rollbacks will impact communities across the country. Despite this, EPA decided not to host an in-person hearing on this issue, deciding instead to host the virtual hearing in the middle of the holiday season. This is not the type of meaningful engagement that communities deserve.
