Mikie Sherrill for NJ Gov

For Governor - Mikie Sherrill

Mikie Sherrill has been a Clean Water Action-endorsed candidate since 2018, as a congresswoman and now candidate for NJ Governor. From her strong stance against PFAS (aka “Forever Chemicals”) to her efforts in flood mitigation, lead pipe replacement, and protecting our most vulnerable from harmful pollution, Sherrill will fight for the health of New Jerseyans and the environment as NJ Governor. Mikie has also helped bring over $156 million in federal funds to NJ through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act and $2.6 million for PFAS remediation, committed to increasing investments in community solar programs, and embraced Clean Water Action’s approach to reducing exposure to toxins from everyday products, truck exhaust, plastics, packaging, and much more.

State Assembly

Andrea Katz

Legislative District (LD) 8 – Andrea Katz

As an activist and mom, Andrea Katz understands and advocates for what New Jerseyans need: health security, reliable clean energy, and protecting families from polluters. Andrea Katz stands up for the people of New Jersey by keeping those in power accountable. The Assemblywoman voted NO on the gutting of the Open Public Records Act (OPRA), believing that government should be open and honest. Katz is also the prime sponsor of the NJ Warehouse and Port Pollution Reduction Act. If signed into law, it would hold warehouses and ports accountable for the pollution they cause by requiring tangible emissions reductions and reporting from each facility.

Margie Donlon

LD 11 – Margie Donlon

Margie Donlon is now in her second election cycle as a Clean Water Action endorsee. As a doctor, she understands the health impacts that plastics and toxins in the environment have on the body. Margie Donlon has spoken often about the fight to limit and phase out plastics. She is co-prime sponsor of our “Skip the Stuff” bill.  Clean Water Action is proud to endorse Margie Donlon, continuing to protect the health of New Jersey’s families.

Luanne Peterpaul

LD 11 – Luanne Peterpaul

Luanne Peterpaul is a 2-time Clean Water Action endorsee. Throughout her freshman session, she has proved time and time again that she is an environmental champion for New Jersey families. She has spoken publicly in support of the Climate Superfund Act, designed to make the state more resilient and financially sound against future storms and more. Her campaign motto of "results over rhetoric" comes as a continuation of her work as an attorney, using evidence and science in order to prove her point.

Verlina Reynolds-Jackson

LD 15 – Verlina Reynolds-Jackson

Verlina Reynolds-Jackson has held this position since 2018, serving the 15th Legislative District with compassion and charisma. She has been a strong advocate for water quality, especially in the removal of lead service lines. She is a sponsor of most of our bills. The Assemblywoman has earned her endorsement time and time again.

Alizon Collazos-Gill

LD 27 – Alixon Collazos-Gill

As a Freshman in the NJ Legislature, Alixon Collazos-Gill has stepped up and set an example of how a legislator should lead. She is the prime Assembly sponsor of many of Clean Water Action’s bills. She truly believes in the Clean Water Action mission of “People, Action, Justice”. When conflict arises, Alixon stands strong in her beliefs and asks why, in an effort to learn more. She is an invaluable asset not only to the Legislature but also to New Jersey. It also does not hurt that one of her first roles in activism was as a Clean Water Action canvasser.

Katie Brennan

LD 32 – Katie Brennan

A long-time activist, Katie Brennan understands how grassroots efforts can make long-term positive change. While focused primarily on housing and affordability, Katie Brennan understands and tries to weave environmental and climate–related solutions into every project and policy. She supports transit funding, not the turnpike expansion. Clean Water Action is proud to endorse and partner with someone with such foresight and mindfulness for the future while taking action in the now.

Ravi Bhalla

LD 32 – Ravi Bhalla

Ravi Bhalla has been the Mayor of Hoboken since 2018, after being on the City Council for nine years. By trade, he was a civil rights attorney before he turned to politics. He has been very active in the climate movement, passing resolutions in support of the NJ  Climate Superfund Act. Bhalla also led the effort to pass the “Skip the Stuff” ordinance, greatly decreasing plastic waste in Hoboken. Clean Water Action is excited to see him continue to be an environmental leader in the State Legislature.

Shama Haider

LD 37 – Shama Haider

Since her swearing in January 2022, Assemblywoman Haider has consistently stood with Clean Water Action on issues like the Turnpike expansion, limiting plastic use, and taking toxic chemicals out of our products. She is a model legislator, setting the standard for other Assemblymembers by not only talking the talk, but walking the walk, being present in her community, and sharing the values of her bills and policy.

Ellen Park

LD 37 – Ellen Park

Ellen Park was elected to the Assembly in 2021 and has been a regular partner of Clean Water Action. From voting on our priorities to sponsoring bills, Ellen Park has taken steps to ensure a cleaner, greener, healthier future for New Jersey. A major proponent of change, she sees the transitions away from plastics and away from fossil fuels as an opportunity for ingenuity and growth for New Jersey.

Municipal  Council

Red Bank's Ready

Red Bank’s Ready: Kristina Bonatakis, Ben Forest, Laura Jannone, Ben Yuro

Clean Water Action is proud to endorse the “Red Bank’s Ready” slate for the Red Bank Municipal Council. Incumbent members, Kristina Bonatakis, Ben Forest, and Laura Jannone, have made a long-lasting impact on the state, ensuring its place as one of New Jersey’s most climate-conscious towns. This includes their support for “Skip the Stuff”, Climate Superfund Act, and more. The incumbent member’s strengths will only be bolstered by newcomer Ben Yuro, who intends to use his city planning skills to ensure more green and environmentally focused developments.
