Clean Water Action is a national, grassroots environmental organization that works to protect the environment and safeguard public health, promote passage of strong environmental laws, and help communities address local environmental problems affecting them. Clean Water Fund is a national research and education organization which promotes justice and the public interest on issues related to water, waste, clean energy and toxic chemicals. Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund are seeking a part-time Director’s Assistant to support our programs, operations, and fundraising efforts in New Jersey. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental campaigns while ensuring smooth financial and administrative operations.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinating and supporting New Jersey’s administrative, financial systems and recordkeeping functions including basic financial reporting, responding to requests from the national financial department, supporting development and achievement of yearly budgets and revenue goals.
• Supporting donor fundraising activities for New Jersey including event planning, managing databases, coordinating direct mail and on-line appeals, participating in team-wide fundraising efforts, identifying and stewarding individual donors, etc.
• Helping to identify prospects and assisting with grant writing, tracking and reporting.
• Performing general public and member communication functions include assisting with development of content in various forms, including print, email alert, social media and our monthly online update called Clean Water on the Move.
• Assist with programmatic events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by their supervisor.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit administration, development, or a related field.
• Experience in grant research, donor prospecting, and securing event sponsors.
• Experience in event planning and coordination.
• Strong interpersonal (oral and written) skills and cultural competency.
• Highly organized and detail oriented with strong time management skills and capacity to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Strategic and creative thinker who can build on existing efforts while bringing new ideas forward.
• Comfortable using a variety of online communication tools, social media, graphics or digital marketing platforms, and software including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite, Slack, and Canva, as well as databases, tracking systems, and donor-management tools.
• Reliable Wi-Fi and workspace for remote work.
• Ability to travel to the office for meetings, and event locations.
SCHEDULE: This position is scheduled for 30 hours per week, to be worked during regular business hours (Monday–Friday, between 8:30 AM and 5:00 PM). Specific weekly schedules will be coordinated with the supervisor. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required to support events.
This is a hybrid position. Candidates must be located within reasonable driving distance of the Elizabeth, NJ office. The role requires attendance at bi-monthly in-office staff meetings, as well as at least two additional in-office days per month coordinated around meetings with team members.
