 Clean Water Fund is a national research and education organization which promotes justice and the public interest on issues related to water, waste, clean energy and toxic chemicals. Top issue priorities include preventing harm to our health from toxic chemicals, promoting climate justice, advocating for zero waste and zero emission policies, and protecting drinking water. Ensuring that those most affected by environmental degradation have a voice at the table, so that people can achieve community-driven solutions to environmental injustices, create healthy neighborhoods and make a real difference in people’s lives. 

Clean Water Fund is seeking passionate bilingual environmental justice activists to join our grassroots team and work as part of our professional field canvass, which has been organizing and fundraising door-to-door in the communities where we work for over 50 years.  This is a short-term position, lasting approximately 10 weeks. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Canvass members of the Lost Hills community to identify key concerns and inform them of actions they can take to protect their family and community from the impact of local polluting industries;
  • Implement a science-based community health survey among Lost Hills residents;
  • Identify and activate individuals who wish to actively participate in efforts to address Lost Hills pollution.
  • Standing for extended periods while engaging with community members.
  • Traveling between canvassing locations, which may require driving or riding in a vehicle.
  • Carrying materials such as clipboards, surveys, literature, water, and other canvassing supplies.
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, sun, wind, and light rain.
  • Repeatedly communicating with community members in English and Spanish throughout the shift.

     
Qualifications
  • Exemplary communication skills

  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and orally
  • Must reside in Lost Hills or have access to a vehicle (travel costs will be reimbursed). 
  • Must commit to a minimum of 8 weeks, at least 3 but not more than 5 days per week.
  • Ability to canvass during afternoons, evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Past experience in canvassing is a plus
  • Ability to perform outdoor, door-to-door community outreach activities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
     

Schedule: This is an onsite temporary role from July 15, 2026 -September 30, 2026.
