We are calling on all local New Jersey municipal elected officials to sign this letter in support of the Warehouse and Port Pollution Reduction Act (S2339 / A2740), as well as parallel local ordinances to reroute polluting commercial trucks away from residential neighborhoods and vulnerable communities, otherwise known as Kids Clean Air Zone policy.

Part of the responsibility of New Jersey local elected officials is to protect our constituents’ health and well-being. Communities that live near warehouses and ports are disproportionately exposed to and impacted by high levels of toxic diesel pollution.

The Warehouse and Port Pollution Reduction Act would encourage high-impact pollution magnets, like warehouse and port facilities, to implement concrete emissions reduction measures through an “indirect source review” program. At a time when our clean air protections are already under attack by Congress and at the federal level, New Jerseyans are counting on our state and local leaders to continue advancing critical public health protections.
