NJ Board Member
Shaneka Boucher is the President and Founder of Social Responsibility Through Me (SRTM), a Camden, New Jersey-based non-profit organization dedicated to addressing critical social issues impacting youth. With over a decade of experience in government, community engagement, and education, Shaneka has built a career rooted in advocacy, policy development, and social justice.
Shaneka’s academic background includes a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hunter College, and an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from SUNY Morrisville. She also completed specialized training in Business Administration through the State of New Jersey in 2016, further enhancing her skills in organizational management.
Over the years, Shaneka has held numerous impactful roles, including serving as a Camden City Council Member from 2020 to 2023, where she led the development of cumulative impact legislation to address pollution in overburdened communities. Additionally, as a board member of Clean Water Action for the State of New Jersey, she continues to advocate for environmental and public health in Camden. Her leadership extends to previous roles as the Director of Enrollment at Mastery Charter School, Senior Director of Community Engagement and Partnerships at CSMI LLC, and Vice Chairwoman of the Camden Parking Authority, among others.
Shaneka’s work reflects her commitment to empowering youth and addressing racial disparities in the criminal justice system. She founded SRTM as a platform to support initiatives like Camden’s first Youth Council in partnership with the Institute for Social Justice, which secured youth appointments to the Camden County Youth Services Commission. Her dedication to community well-being has led to the establishment of five community centers in South Camden, providing safe spaces for youth and families. In addition, she has championed numerous projects, including community peace walks to address gun violence and the creation of a youth HUB funded by the New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission.
Shaneka’s career is marked by her drive to create sustainable change through collaborative partnerships, informed policy-making, and hands-on community leadership. Her work in Camden and beyond continues to shape a more just, inclusive, and resilient future for communities in New Jersey
