Councilwoman Nancy Facey-Blackwood has been a driving force for sustainability, equity, and innovation in Red Bank since entering public service in 2017. Beginning her civic journey as a member of the Environmental Commission and Green Team, Nancy’s passion for creating healthier, more resilient communities has left a transformative impact on Red Bank’s environmental policies and the lives of its residents. As Chair of the Environmental Commission in 2018, Nancy led Red Bank to achieve **silver recertification in the Sustainable Jersey program, showcasing her ability to rally diverse stakeholders toward shared goals. Her visionary leadership earned her recognition as a Sustainable Hero in 2020. Nancy’s commitment to community-driven solutions is evident in her work on the Red Bank Pedestrian Safety Demonstration Project in 2019. Using tactical urbanism, the project enhanced safety and accessibility and earned the Monmouth County Planning Board Merit Award. In 2021, she chaired the Red Bank Charter Study Commission, spearheading efforts that led to the borough’s adoption of a council-manager form of government in 2022. Elected to the Borough Council in 2023, Nancy has championed progressive sustainability policies, including updates to the Green Streets Policy and Complete Streets Ordinance. Her leadership has been instrumental in banning single-use plastics, promoting tree protection, and advancing bike infrastructure, underscoring her unwavering dedication to environmental responsibility.
