2026 Yale Environmental Fellow
Brandi Williams (she/her) received her Ph.D. in environmental and analytical chemistry at George Mason University. Her dissertation, Analytical Advancements In Water Quality Assessment: A Study In The Investigation of SARS-CoV-2 RNA In Wastewater and Mitigation of Contaminants of Emerging Concern In Stormwater, expanded analytical methods for environmental research. Brandi is a passionate advocate for environmental justice and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within STEM education.
Brandi completed the Yale Environmental Fellows Program in 2024, expanding her commitment to interdisciplinary learning and the application of her research to real-world challenges. She is excited to rejoin the program as a second-year fellow. Brandi is also serving as the National Student Representative for the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).
Throughout her graduate career, Brandi has received George Mason University College of Science Dean’s awards for Excellence in Access, Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (AJEDI) and Excellence in Research in 2024 and 2025 respectively. Brandi aims to encourage technical researchers to intersect their work with community engagement initiatives and multidisciplinary collaborations. This intersection aims to continue growing a community of problem solvers equipped to tackle the world’s most challenging problems. Brandi is excited to employ her technical background for an exciting career contributing to the development of innovative solutions addressing global environmental challenges.
