Swamp Creature and Friends are set to Welcome Press & Staff to Dirksen Tomorrow

(WASHINGTON, D.C.)-- On Thursday, Clean Water Fund’s notorious Swamp Creature will return to the Senate for the Energy and Natural Resources Committee markup of David Bernhardt’s nomination to be Secretary of the Interior. Bernhardt, who has been called a “Swamp Creature” and a “walking conflict of interest” by many, has been nominated to head the Department of the Interior despite his strong ties to the oil and gas industry.

"The President dove deep into the swamp and came up with David Bernhardt, who is even more troubling than Ryan Zinke," said Clean Water Action/Clean Water Fund President and CEO, Bob Wendelgass."Potential ethics problems haven't stopped him from advancing the interests of former clients and friends -- he quashed a report on toxic pesticides and endangered species, drastically cut back protected habitat for sage grouse, and continued to approve offshore drilling permits during the recent government shutdown. Bernhardt's career as a lobbyist for corporate special interests and his actions since joining the Department of the Interior should disqualify him from serving as Secretary."

The swamp creature and friends will be meeting on the corner of 1st and C street NE from 8:15 AM- 10:00 AM handing out posters and fliers.
