Montclair, New Jersey -- The final results are in on NJ's last contested U.S. House race, and Clean Water Action would like to congratulate Congressman-elect Andy Kim on his well deserved win. In NJ's 3rd congressional district where Andy Kim won by a slim margin, Clean Water Action's professional field canvass knocked on over 25,000 households to inform voters that Andy Kim was the pro-environment candidate.

Statewide, the organization's robust field operations brought dozens of professional canvassers into neighborhoods throughout four targeted districts - knocking on more than 220,000 doors across New Jersey and mobilizing tens of thousands of voters to the polls. "We are thrilled that NJ voters have restored the NJ delegation to its traditional environmental values," stated Amy Goldsmith, NJ State Director. "New Jersey was a difference maker in the larger effort to tilt the US House towards a pro-environment majority. Clean Water Action helped make that possible."

"Canvassing wins elections. A well-oiled field operation is the gold standard of political communication, and Clean Water Action has been utilizing our field canvass to motivate voters and support environmental campaigns for decades", said Eric Benson, Clean Water Action New Jersey Campaign Director. "For the past 6 months, we have focused our field canvass on electing pro-environment candidates across New Jersey, and we won."

Clean Water Action endorsed Josh Gottheimer for re-election in the 5th District, and newcomers Mikie Sherrill in the 11th, Tom Malinowski in the 7th, and Andy Kim in the 3rd because they support policies to defend existing clean water protections. They are also committed to a clean energy future which will grow the New Jersey economy and defend our shores from the threats of climate change. New Jerseyans can look forward to a congressional delegation who will represent their values and priorities instead of focusing on corporate special interests.

"New Jersey voters want elected officials who will protect and defend our environment," said Serena Iacoviello, Clean Water Action Field Manager. "From the small business owners worried about increasingly strong storms on our coast to the families concerned about threats to their drinking water, what we have always found is that New Jersey voters prioritize the environment at the polls."

"Clean Water Action's outreach efforts will not end on election night," added Melissa Marks, Field Canvass Director. "Our canvassers are already back in communities to make sure that we not only elect pro-environment candidates to office, but also ensure they fight for clean water policies that will protect New Jersey families from environmental and public health harms."
