PROVIDENCE: Clean Water Action announced today that they will be honoring retiring Rhode Island AFL-CIO President, George Nee, at their annual Electoberfest on October 1st. Additionally, Clean Water Action will be naming their annual award for youth leaders in his honor.
“We are so excited to honor labor leader, George Nee, at Electoberfest. He has been a force for environmental, worker, and social justice from his efforts in the early 1980s to ensure that Rhode Island’s beaches were cared for to his advocacy with the Rhode Island AFL-CIO for family-supporting clean energy jobs in our state. We are creating an award named in his honor, to connect young, rising social justice leaders in Rhode Island to that legacy,” said Emily Howe, Clean Water Action’s Interim Rhode Island State Director.
Electoberfest, Clean Water Action’s annual event celebrating pro-environment candidates for office and raising support for their environmental policy campaigns, will be held this year at the Guild’s Pawtucket Barn on Tuesday, October 1st, from 6-8:30pm.
