This November, the choice is clear. Jahana Hayes has worked hard for residents in Connecticut’s 5th district. When re-elected, Jahana Hayes will continue to be a champion for CT residents, working to ensure all residents have clean water and a clean healthy environment. As your US Representative, Jahana Hayes has worked every day to protect our communities. She has:
- Fought for water infrastructure funding including $50,000 for affordable housing drinking water system improvements in Goshen, CT; nearly $1 million for stormwater and sewer line improvements in New Britain, CT; nearly $1 million for wastewater phosphorus reduction projects in Plymouth. In FY22, she secured $3 million for the construction of a wastewater treatment facility in Cornwall, CT.
- Supported federal funding to Connecticut to monitor and remediate toxic chemicals like PFAS that are harmful to health and the environment.
- Prioritized sound solutions to mitigate climate change and address health. Led the Clean School Bus Act, to secure $21.5 million for six school districts across the state for the purchase of 91 electric school buses. Continues to support farmers in climate smart farming initiatives to help them thrive and produce locally grown food.
- Fought for cleanup of brownfields like the Scovill Industrial Landfill Superfund Site in Waterbury and secured nearly $12 million for clean-up, a measure that will have a lasting impact on this neighborhood.
- Continued to push for clean renewable affordable energy and oppose projects to expand gas transmission pipelines coming across Connecticut.
