The Massachusetts legislative season has begun! Now is the time to get action on PFAS and other toxic chemicals. Key Massachusetts legislators are fighting for change and they need our help. Please let your State Representative and Senator know that you want them to support and cosponsor these three bills:

  • S.1356, H.2197 An Act to protect Massachusetts public health from PFAS (Senator Julian Cyr, Representative Kate Hogan): This bill bans PFAS in most consumer products, prevents industrial discharges of PFAS to water, and sets up a fund to help test and treat private wells and public water systems for PFAS.
  • S.175, H.318 An Act relative to toxic free kids (Senator Cindy Friedman, Representative James Hawkins): This bill bans PFAS in children’s products.  It also requires manufacturers to disclose toxic chemicals added to children’s products and sets up a structure for evaluating chemicals and banning the most harmful chemicals from continued use in children’s products.
  • S.39, H.101 An Act protecting our soil and farms from PFAS contamination (Senator Jo Comerford, Representative Paul Schmid): This bill requires testing of biosolids for PFAS before they are sold or distributed to be used as fertilizer.  It also sets up a fund to support farmers who have high PFAS levels in the soil or water at their farms.

Contact your MA legislator and ask them to support and co-sponsor each bill. Please consider adding a sentence or two about why you want to see action on PFAS and other toxics. Legislators tell us that personalized emails are particularly impactful.
