Join Clean Water Action and a coalition of Michigan non-profit organizations to lobby for the Michigan Voting Rights Act!
With the protections from the Voting Rights Act of 1965 weakened or eliminated by the U.S. Supreme Court, state voting rights acts are needed to provide critical protections to voters that no longer exist at the national level. A Michigan Voting Rights Act will protect our freedom to vote without facing discrimination against Black and Brown voters and will build a democracy that works for all.
The Michigan Voting Rights Act package of bills includes:
Senate Bill 401 - THE Voting Rights Act, providing voting rights protections tailored to Michigan’s unique electoral system
Senate Bill 402 - Creation of an election data institute
Senate Bill 403 - Language access
Senate Bill 404 - Curbside voting and other election law accessibility amendments
The lobby day will include breakfast, training, lunch, meetings with state lawmakers, and a press conference. We will also be talking to lawmakers about the Taking Back Our Power campaign to curtail monopoly utility and large corporate lobbying spending in our state government.
We hope to see you in Lansing!
