You know that Clean Water Action fights for clean air, clean water and healthy communities, but did you know we are also helping to train and mentor the next generation of environmental leaders? Our Youth Action Council offers opportunities for Boston area students to raise their voices in the movement and our internship program gives an in depth experience to two rising leaders each semester. Here’s what our fall interns had to say about their experience:
Ian, Environmental Health & Justice Intern: My internship at Clean Water was really a breakthrough in my professional life. I gained insight into how the environmental movement really works and built relationships that I’ll value in the future. I became familiar with how to take action to make an impact and learned about the huge problem of toxic chemicals in consumer products. The staff at Clean Water are some of the kindest, most passionate individuals I have met and now I am certain I want to continue this work to make a change for the greater good. Clean Water emphasizes positive values and justice for all and I will continue to practice this beyond my time here!
Tova, Elections & Communications Intern: My time at Clean Water has given me more than just experience in the field. I have gained deeper insight into the strategies behind organizing around a cause, rallying a community, and targeting specific players. Clean Water also helped me further my understanding of how race and class are inseparable from environmental work, which has affirmed my commitment to a holistic approach to justice as I move forward in the fight for the equitable distribution of clean water.
