Connecticut gets a bad rap on many issues, like the perpetual budget deficit, urban centers in disrepair, and the need for significant transportation infrastructure upgrades but residents of this small state have much to be proud of. Connecticut's idyllic farms, coastal communities, abundant water sources and beautiful forests provide gorgeous scenery, wonderful places for recreation and add richly to our quality of life. We can't take this for granted and that’s why I’m proud to work in Connecticut for Clean Water Action.

Clean Water Action works on local, state, and federal issues to protect our waters, protect our environment, advance policies that mitigate the health and environmental impacts of climate change, and reduce exposure to toxic chemicals in products we use every day. Some days are challenging as the Trump Administration’s onslaught of rollbacks on vital protections for air, water, climate change, and health are overwhelming. I’m proud that we have an amazing team of passionate experts working to block these terrible proposals.

Clean Water Action also tracks the environmental voting records of all members of the 115th Congress and here's another reason to be proud of Connecticut. All five of our Congressional Representatives, John Larson, Rosa DeLauro, Elizabeth Esty, Jim Himes and Joseph Courtney as well as our two Senators, Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy have a 100% pro-environment voting record!

This means that on every time Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, and polluting industry lobbyists pressed to weaken protections on water, our congressional delegation said, “No!” Every attempt to set us backward on our climate progress, they said, “No!” Every piece of legislation that would let industries have more control over the agencies that regulate them, they said, “No!” Every attack on science, they said, “No!”

This leadership from our representatives and senators helped keep anti-environment riders out of the budget, including the Dirty Water Rider which would’ve made it easier for Scott Pruitt to eliminate the Clean Water Rule.

Clean Water Action organizers and activists in Connecticut and Washington, D.C. are working to protect our environment and the bedrock laws that make Connecticut a beautiful place to live, work and play. Each time I go for a hike, visit our beautiful, quaint beaches and coastline towns, or enjoy an afternoon at a serene vineyard, I'm thankful for the beauty of Connecticut, grateful for the work of Clean Water Action and appreciate our entire Connecticut delegation for their understanding of the economic and health benefits of a clean environment and their commitment to protecting it.
