By Joe Nye, Eastern Pennsylvania Program Organizer We're less than a week from the election. Clean Water Staff across the country will be blogging about what it means nationally and locally. Check back for more. Anyone who is a resident of Chester County is familiar with its natural beauty, particularly the Brandywine Creek. Protecting the Brandywine and drinking water in the community is a top priority for Clean Water Action and that is why we have endorsed Bret Binder for the 156th Pennsylvania State House district. The representative who currently holds that seat, Dan Truitt, does not see protecting our drinking water as a top priority. How do we know this? Because, Dan Truitt voted this past year for a law in PA called Act 13, which stripped all municipalities in the state of their right to determine where natural gas wells can be drilled and where pipelines can be constructed. Dan Truitt is a true friend of the oil and gas industry and has proven his loyalty by voting against the environment 31% of the time on gas drilling issues in his last term. We need a real leader in Harrisburg, one who shares Chester County’s love and respect for our natural resources. I have had the pleasure of speaking with Bret Binder on a number of occasions as we work to ensure the protection of Chester County’s environment and am confident that he takes the issues that Clean Water Action cares about seriously. Any resident of West Chester, West Goshen or East Goshen who shares these same values needs to get out and vote for Bret Binder for the 156th State House district on November 6th. Polls are open from 7am - 8pm. Find your polling place here.
