With the spread of COVID-19, there is an urgency to help protect residents with pre-existing health conditions. A healthy respiratory system is one of the body’s first lines of defense against COVID-19. Indoor air cleaners may offer some protection against the harmful effects of air pollution on the respiratory tract.
Priority households for this project will be those with existing health conditions, especially respiratory and cardiovascular, in addition to households with pregnant women, children, and seniors. There is no charge to receive the air purifier, however, there are a limited number available.

All funds raised will be put towards the purchase and installation of home air cleaners for Clairton residents that can reduce air pollution levels in their homes. Organizations partnering on this project include: Valley Clean Air Now (VCAN), Clean Water Action/Clean Water Fund, Reducing Outdoor Contaminants in Indoor Spaces (ROCIS), Clean Air Council, One PA, Women for a Healthy Environment, Cornerstone Care, and Community Partners in Asthma Care. Funding for this program is from The Heinz Endowments.
Please note - the current application period has closed. If you would like to be put on a waiting list for a home air cleaner, you can fill out the form. Additional distributions of home air cleaners will be dependent on the program gaining additional funding.
