A coalition of organizations working in the City of Clairton have established a free program to provide portable air cleaners in Clairton homes to reduce exposure to outdoor and indoor air pollution.
With the spread of COVID-19, there is an urgency to help protect residents with pre-existing health conditions. A healthy respiratory system is one of the body’s first lines of defense against COVID-19. Indoor air cleaners may offer some protection against the harmful effects of air pollution on the respiratory tract.
Priority households for this project will be those with existing health conditions, especially respiratory and cardiovascular, in addition to households with pregnant women, children, and seniors. There is no charge to receive the air purifier, however, there are a limited number available.
