Board of Directors
Clean Water Action Board of Directors
Edina, MN
Julie served as a Clean Water Action Minnesota board member from 2005-2008 and was active in MERP (Metropolitan Emissions Reduction Project), which focused on reducing the number of coal-fired power plants in the Twin Cities. She left the board to serve on Edina’s Energy and Environment Commission from 2007-2014. There, she chaired the Air and Water Quality Working Groups, and she co-authored the “Energy and Environment” chapter for the 2008 Edina Comprehensive Plan. In 2016, she joined Clean Water Action Minnesota’s Political Committee evaluating candidates for endorsement and in 2020, rejoined the Minnesota CWA board. Julie’s professional work is in art history. She directed the American Museum of Asmat Art, and travelled to Asmat, Papua, Indonesia several times seeing firsthand the impact of mining on water and issues arising from increasing pollution levels. Access to clean water is a growing issue as population levels rise and the region lacks garbage haulers and waste treatment infrastructure.
