Bill Nierstedt

Bill Nierstedt is a licensed NJ Professional Planner who served at the City of Elizabeth, and Hackensack Meadowlands Development Commission, and as the Planning Director for the City of Plainfield prior to his 2023 retirement after 42 years.  He is currently heavily involved in his hometown of Garwood as its Shade Tree Officer, Planning Board member, Green Team Chairman, and representative to the Union County Transportation Advisory Board.  In addition to his Clean Water Action Board position, he also serves on the Union County Connects Board- a pedestrian/bicycling advocacy group.  Happily married to Maria Casella Nierstedt for 43 years, Bill has two children- Eric and Jenna- and one adorable granddaughter, Audrey.
