Yesterday on Facebook, Clean Water Action said this:

One more time (you might be guessing how important this is because we keep posting about it)! We need everyone (that means you!) to tell the Senate to reject any dirty water amendments that would stop U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Headquarters from protecting clean water. Let Senators like Senator Harry Reid, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator Barbara Boxer, Senator Jack Reed, U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski, and both of your Senators know that you support the rule to #ProtectCleanWater - http://www.cleanwater.org/nodirtywater

Hundreds of Clean Water Action members and fans responded by taking our online action and sending urgent #ProtectCleanWater and #NoDirtyWater messages to their U.S. Senators. One woman said this, asking a question that was on many of our minds:

I sent the message, but why should we have to send a message that is certainly self-evident?

Clean Water Action responded:

You are right. Our opponents on this run the full gamut from those who automatically oppose anything the Obama Administration supports to those who represent polluters' interests which might be adversely impacted if the Clean Water Act were once again applied to most of our water resources as opposed to just some of the" downstream" ones.

This includes the same gang that denies climate change and opposes anything to require polluting power plants to clean up or hasten the transition to renewables.

Yes, the case to be made for clean water is self-evident for most people, but if we don't speak up, our common-sense, science-based perspective will be overwhelmed by those operating in the largely fact-free zone who are on the other side in this fight.

Another woman joined the conversation. She said:

I had the same question and appreciate the answer. I also submitted mine!

There's only one thing Clean Water Action can say at this point, to these two women who took action for clean water yesterday and the hundreds and thousands of others who are joining them:

Thank You. Together, we are making a difference for clean water. Now and for the future.
