2018 Elections: A Fight for Clean Water

Clean Water Action offices will engage on key state and local races in all our states, seeking to protect pro-environmental majorities where they exist and flip control of chambers currently with anti-environmental majorities. Below are our priority federal races. We'll work on dozens of other state, local, and federal races in the fall of 2018.

Over 100,000 Petitions Demanding Full Fracking Ban Delivered to DRBC

Washington Crossing, PA - Representatives of organizations and members of the public submitted 104,805 signed petitions to the Delaware River Basin Commission (DRBC) at their public business meeting today.  The petitions, collected by 15 organizations representing members in all four states that are part of the Delaware River Watershed, asks the Governors of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware to vote for a complete and permanent ban on fracking and its activities.

More Than 100,000 Petitions Demanding Fracking Ban Delivered to Gov Murphy

Trenton – Representatives of New Jersey organizations submitted 104,101 signed petitions to Governor Murphy at his West State Street office today after a State House news conference. The petitions, collected by groups representing members in all four states that are part of the Delaware River Watershed, asks the Governors to vote at the Delaware River Basin Commission for a complete and permanent ban on fracking and its activities.

Clean Water Action: Murphy confirms rollback of Christie Highlands dirty water rule

Trenton, NJ - Clean Water Action issued the following statement in response to the NJDEP‘s formal notice today that the Christie Highlands septic density standard dirty water rule is and has been null and void ever since the state legislature rejected it in January of this year.

Empower NJ- Stop Fossil Fuel Campaign Launch

December 5, 2018

Over 50 environmental, citizen, faith, and progressive groups in New Jersey are calling on Governor Murphy to enact a moratorium on all new fossil fuel projects in New Jersey until there are rules in place to achieve our 100% clean energy goals. There are currently 5 new proposed gas-fired power plants like the Meadowlands power plant and 7 new major natural gas pipelines in New Jersey.
