Clean Water Action Endorses Rashida Tlaib for Congress

Monday, April 27, 2020

LANSING- Today Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Rashida Tlaib for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District.

“There are few members of Congress who fight as hard to protect our environment and address the climate crisis as Rashida Tlaib," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "We can trust Congresswoman Tlaib to continue fighting for Michigan families and our drinking water in her next term.”

In her first term in Congress Congresswoman Tlaib was among the first sponsors of the Green New Deal resolution, introduced legislation to allow federal employees to divest retirement portfolios from fossil fuel investments, and spearheaded the Emergency Water is a Human Right Act to ensure that all Americans have access to running water in light of the COVID-19 crisis. As Vice Chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on Environment, Congresswoman Tlaib has held field hearings in Detroit to investigate pollution discharges from Marathon Refinery and other heavily polluting industrial sites in the 48217 zip code.

“Congresswoman Tlaib will never stop fighting for a more just world. She stands up for those who do not have access to clean drinking water and who are disproportionately impacted by environmental racism. We can count on her leadership to hold polluting industries accountable and implement just solutions to the climate crisis.” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse Congresswoman Tlaib and look forward to continuing to work with her in 2021 and beyond.”
