Clean Water Action Endorses Laurie Pohutsky for Michigan State House District 19

Wednesday, April 29, 2020

LANSING- Today Clean Water Action announced its endorsement of Laurie Pohutsky for Michigan’s 19th State House District.

“During her first term, Laurie Pohutsky has consistently stood up for her constituents and stuck to her convictions. She has quickly become one of the strongest environmental advocates in Lansing," said Mary Brady-Enerson, Clean Water Action Michigan Director. "We know that Representative Pohutsky will continue to fiercely advocate for protecting our water and holding polluters accountable.”

When she was elected in 2018, Representative Pohutsky brought her experience as an environmental scientist with her to Lansing. She has introduced bills to repeal Michigan’s No Stricter Than Federal law and strengthen public water protections, and has advocated for policies to hold polluters accountable for the contamination they create. After just one year in the State House, Representative Pohutsky earned Clean Water Action’s Champion of the Great Lakes Award for her legislative advocacy.

“From fighting major polluters in her district to standing with Attorney General Nessel to shut down Enbridge’s Line 5 pipeline, Representative Pohutsky has established an incredibly strong track record of protecting our Great Lakes, drinking water and public health,” said Brady-Enerson. “We are proud to endorse her and look forward to continuing to work with her in 2021 and beyond.”
