by Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund details how air pollution from US Steel’s plants in the Mon Valley, south of Pittsburgh, has created the worst air in the state. View the press release here.

The Mon Valley has had more violations of federal Clean Air Act standards than any other area of Pennsylvania and continues to fail to meet federal standards for healthy air.

With a third of Mon Valley residents living in environmental justice communities, with substantial communities of color and families living below the poverty line, some of the most vulnerable groups to health problems are being subjected to the worst environmental conditions. With over a decade of inaction and failure to clean up the air in the Mon Valley, this is an injustice that is long overdue for correction.
