This annual interactive, educational event brings together New Jersey residents, community and organizational leaders, scientists, policymakers, business thinkers and students who are focused on protecting water and creating more resilient, sustainable and healthy communities. This year’s panel of experts will focus on how best to unite environmental, social justice and multi-issue organizations to ensure positive results and shared successes on critical campaigns such as clean water for all, environmental justice, climate change & green energy jobs, reducing waste and plastic pollution, and more!  

Sue Altman, Leadership Board, South Jersey Women for Progressive Change

Program Director and Expert Advisor of the NJHI Next Generation Community Leaders Program at Rutgers University Institute for Effective Education. Undergraduate degree Columbia University (2005), starred on basketball and cross country teams, dual masters degree with Distinction at the University of Oxford (MSc and MBA) in International and Comparative Education and Business. Previously taught history, coached champion sport teams, served as school administrator; founded nonprofit consulting company. Resides in Camden, NJ.

Rev. Eric Dobson, Staff Outreach Coordinator, Fair Share Housing Center
Ordained minister, community organizer, outreach specialist and social entrepreneur. B.A. fromTemple University in Religion. Co-Founder of Open Communities LLC which works to resolve simple and complex conflicts of race, ethnicity and socio economics. Founded Planting Seeds of Hope, devoted to youth development and education. Served as PA Clergy Outreach Director for Obama Campaign.
 
Jim Johnson, Senior Fellow, Brennan Center for Justice

Former law partner, now Of Council, at Debevoise & Plimpton; Democratic primary candidate for NJ governor (2017). Led Corzine’s Advisory Committee for Police Standards to address racial profiling; U.S. District Court monitor in NY fair housing settlement case. Co-counsel in Johnson v. Bush, to restore full voting rights of African American men with felony convictions. Challenged Florida and Colorado voter purges. Previous federal roles: Assistant/Under Secretary of the Treasury and Enforcement; led efforts to close gun show loopholes and co-chaired National Church Arson Task Force. Lead author Atlantic City: Building A Foundation for Shared Prosperity (2018). Graduated Harvard College and Harvard Law School. Clerked for Federal District Judge Robert E. Keeton. Now member of Harvard University’s Board of Overseers; former Board Member/Chair of NYU’s Brennan Center.
 
Andrea McChristian, Esq., Director, Criminal Justice Reform Initiative
NJ Institute for Social Justice (NJISJ) Primary author of Bring Our Children Home series.
Graduated Yale University with Distinction (2008) in Political Science. Served as co-President of the Yale NAACP. Later joined Teach for America and Head Start. Attended Columbia Law School. Interned at Challenging the Consequences of Mass Incarceration Clinic, Human Rights Internship Program, and NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. Graduated (2013) as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. Clerked for Chief Judge Petrese B. Tucker of Eastern PA District.
