Take Action! Urge the City of Alexandria to Act on Toxic Chemicals

PFAS Rhode Island

Toxic chemicals such as PFAS are found in many common products such as clothing, carpets, fabrics for furniture, adhesives, paper packaging for food, firefighting foam, and heat-resistant/non-stick cookware. Unfortunately, such chemicals are toxic and stay in your body and the environment for a long time.

Elected and appointed officials in Virginia need to work toward a health-based limit on PFAS chemicals in products and drinking water.

Clean Water Action calls for the city of Alexandria to:

  • Leverage their purchasing power and require that contracts for goods purchased for the city are toxic free
  • Make sustainable chemical procurement a strong part of Alexandria’s Environmental Action Plan 2040
  • Restrict PFAS chemicals in fire-fighting training exercises.
