Now’s the time to raise your voice on key restrictions on toxic PFAS chemicals in Connecticut. There are two critical bills that will restrict PFAS chemicals this session!
- SB 297 restricts the use of firefighting foam containing PFAS for training by 2021, establishes a foam take back program and a full ban by 2022, unless specific conditions apply. We know that fluorine-free foams are available now, equally effective and used around the world. The U.S. is far behind.
- HB 5291 restricts PFAS in food packaging, a major source of human exposure and environmental contamination when these single-use products are discarded.
PFAS chemicals are highly toxic, persistent chemicals or “forever chemicals” linked to kidney and testicular cancers, liver disease, high cholesterol, impaired immunity and reproductive disorders. PFAS are found in firefighting foam, many types of food packaging, and as a result, in our bodies and our drinking water.
Take Action! We can't wait any longer to turn off the tap of PFAS chemicals.
