Say NO to a Gas Plant in Providence

We don't need a new Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) plant here in Providence and we need Mayor Elorza to tell federal regulators the same.

National Grid has proposed the construction of a new fracked gas liquefaction facility at Field's Point in the Port of Providence. They claim that this new fossil fuel infrastructure is critical to meeting Rhode Island's energy demands.

But state energy officials have repeatedly debunked this claim. Additionally, several state laws require the increased development of clean renewable energy source, not dirty and dangerous ones.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, is the deciding factor on whether the plant can be built in Providence. This past week, eight state representatives and senators sent a letter urging FERC to reject National Grid's proposal.

Tell Mayor Elorza to urge FERC to reject National Grid's proposal for this new facility. It's a bad deal for Providence and we don't need it.
