We can’t do this without you – thanks. Here’s an update on a few really important bills.

Omnibus Agriculture and Food Finance Bill - HF 2200

HF 2200 includes a provision that establishes a lead safe homes grant program to increase lead testing in residential rental housing and make residential rental housing units lead safe. If passed. HF 2200 would fund this program starting in 2020, so we can get to work to get the lead out.

Omnibus Environment and Natural Resources Finance Bill – HF 2209

HF 2209 includes two important bills – one to protect kids and firefighters from toxic flame retardant chemicals (FCHPA) and another to protect our lakes and rivers from excessive road salt pollution. The FCHPA bans toxic flame retardants from upholstered furniture, children’s products, and mattresses and restricts use of firefighting foam containing PFAS chemicals. The salt applicator policy aims to reduce salt contamination by providing private salt applicators who complete training, become certified and implement best management practices with limited liability protection.

May 20th will be here before we know it and we need your help to ensure these solutions make it across the finish line! Contact your legislator and urge them to support inclusion of these important policies in the final bill!
