Conservation and Austin's Water Treatment Plant 4

Austin residents: Tell Austin's Mayor and City Council to support a water conservation plan.

Take Action Now

Clean Water Action continues to oppose Austin's controversial Water Treatment Plant 4 (WTP4), an expensive new drinking water treatment plant that the Austin Water Utility and a narrow 4-3 majority on the City Council want to build on Lake Travis. Phase I of WTP4 will cost an estimated $508 million, excluding interest payments, and residential customers can expect to see their water bills increase by $38-48 per year to pay for the bonds that must be sold to finance its construction (source: City of Austin).
