Clean Water Action!

What better way to spend your Saturday than listening to Grace Kelly, Esperanza Spalding, New Black Eagle Jazz Band, and the Joey DeFrancesco Trio on the shore of Newport... or your Sunday relaxing to the Ravi Coltrane Quartet, the Berklee College of Music's Mario Castro Quartet, and the Trombone Shorty? Nothing. Except getting in for free by volunteering with Clean Water Action.

Although Rhode Island has a successful hospital and large medical institution recycling program, it no longer has a readily available, free residential medical sharp recycling program. Most home-users of insulin or other injectable medications now have no free choice but to put their used sharps in a plastic container and throw it in the trash. Unfortunately, many of these containers end up in the RIRRC's recycling facility instead of the trash, endangering workers and slowing down the recycling operation.

H5888/S459 would help reinstate a home-based medical sharp recycling program in RI, giving residents a much safer system for disposal.

Network and celebrate with other members of RI’s non-profit and progressive organizations, as well as our local leaders! We’ll have delicious (and free!) Nice Slice pizza, sweet desserts, a rousing team Jeopardy game, and raffles for prizes like roller derby tickets, photography portrait sessions, and Newport Folk Festival tickets!
