join our friends at the clean water network for the first-ever earth day float-in
FLOAT-IN, be counted & fight for Clean Water! Join people from across the region and country to protect the Anacostia and all of our nation’s water at the First Annual Float-In Earth Day. The Float-In marks the 40th anniversary of The Clean Water Act and it's an opportunity to celebrate our country’s beautiful rivers, lakes, streams, creeks, bays and coastal areas. It's our chance to say NO to attempts by polluters and their allies in Congress to slow our nation's clean water progress.
Bring your boats, canoes, kayaks, rafts, yachts, & even bathtubs (if they can float) to Diamond Teague Park on the Anacostia River (behind National's Stadium at 1st and Potomac Avenue SE) on Earth Day, April 22, 2012, from 3-7 PM.
If you can't join us in DC, go to your favorite river, lake, or beach and take a picture of you and friends floating! Post the picture on facebook on your blog, or on your organization’s website on Earth Day. Help us create a community photo montage of people across the country celebrating their local waterways on the first annual Float-In Earth Day! Please send a copy of the photo here.
Event Details:CWN’s Earth Day celebration will include boat tours of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers, special speakers, displays and exhibits, musical entertainment and the screening of a new documentary on the water crisis, Last Call to the Oasis, directed by Oscar award winning Director Jessica Yu.
